Homeowner’s Associations Vs Residence
Shouldn’t be an adversarial relationship

Sometimes homeowner’s associations and resident members encounter an adversarial relationship. The members think the board either does too much or not enough. There are often conflicts which render the board ineffective or the situation takes on a two sided adversarial “You” and “Them” mentality.

When you ran for election on the board of directors you committed to a daunting task which is arguably one of non-appreciation, and takes away time from your family. You just wanted to make a positive difference and protect your property values.

I know every Association is unique and has different challenges. With today’s economic situation, foreclosures at historical numbers, Laws and regulations continuing to change and your efforts are not recognized.

Perhaps, it is time to let someone else be the “Bad Guy” and put you into a positive situatioin by becoming a buffer between the board and the membership. The Board of Directors need to be seen as the “Protector” of the community and seen as the leaders they are.
